This workshop is designed to help Franciscan religious who serve as trustees on boards of colleges, hospitals, secondary schools and service agencies. It is increasingly important for religious to understand and embrace the importance of an appointment to boards that govern ecclesial ministries
founded by our congregations and provinces.
Board service, while voluntary, is a significant form of public responsibility for an institution’s welfare. The trustee must ensure fidelity to the mission and represent the sponsor. This service includes responsibility for increasingly complex areas of legal, financial and organizational compliance. It also includes the possibility of contributing to institutions that touch thousands of lives.
"Attending this workshop is a wonderful opportunity to enter into relationship with other religious board members, gain some insight into particular responsibilities, and recognize the importance of empowering lay men and women who share a passion for sponsored ministries."
Sr. Joanne Schatzlein, OSF
To be called to such service is a privilege. It is also hard work and great responsibility. The workshop will address these issues and provide assistance to those holding such appointments.
