CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

After a brief hiatus, the AFCU Journal is up and running again, and we are seeking submissions for Volume 16.  Published online annually, the Journal presents peer-reviewed submissions that reflect upon the distinct character, charism, and heritage of a Franciscan institution of higher education.

The brief pause in publication and the shift to an online format has given the editorial board an opportunity to reimagine the scope and purpose of the Journal. We are pleased to announce that in addition to traditional articles, we are seeking high quality video shorts, poetry, music, and visual art. It is our hope that the addition of these formats will allow for even more creativity in reflection on the uniqueness of Franciscan higher education. Recognizing the important contributions of all connected to our institutions, we also invite submissions from faculty, staff, alumni, current students, etc..

To learn more about the scope and purpose of the Journal, submission guidelines, and submission process, please see the information below.

The submission deadline is Friday, November 17 th, 2023 – the Feast of St. Elizabeth of Hungary.

Each submission will be reviewed by the journal board and the editor.  Once the submission has passed through the peer-review process, the editor will notify authors of the decision in writing, along with any recommended changes necessary for publication or reconsideration.  Submissions to the Journal may not be submitted simultaneously to other publications.
